Piercing Healing Times
The time it takes for different piercings to heal can vary based on the part of the body where the piercing is located. Many piercings have healing times that vary greatly and the time it actually takes is largely dependent on your overall health and how well you care for your piercing. You want to take
proper care of your piercing to avoid infection, keloids and migration. Keloids are small accumulations of scar tissue.
The better piercing after care you perform, the faster and more cleanly your piercing will heal. You need to clean the piercing twice each day and preferably use a wash that leaves no residue. Nature’s Pure Defense is not like saline or chemical based solutions in that it leaves absolutely no residue. It is made with 100% tissue-culture grade water that is perfectly ph balanced for skin. It can also be used to wash away the residues that salt washes and sprays leave behind. The residue left behind by salt and chemical washes can dry skin and hinder healing.
Most piercings take weeks to months to heal:
- Septum: 6-8 weeks
- Lip/Labret: 6-8 weeks
- Tongue: 4-6 weeks
- Nostril: 3 months – 1 year
- Cartilage: 3 months – 1 year
- Genitals: 4 weeks – 4 months
- Nipple: 3-6 months
- Navel: 6-18 months
As you can see the ranges for each piercing vary greatly and if you want your healing time to be in the lower end of the spectrum you need to take proper piercing after care steps. It also helps to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables. Your body is better equipped to heal when it is healthy and nourished correctly. Also avoid tight clothing over piercings until they are fully healed. Remember to keep your piercing clean and residue free with a wash like Nature’s Pure Defense.
